Environmental Anglers March To Demand End To River Pollution!

(London News on the 4th) More than 15,000 people took to the streets of London to participate in the “Clean Water March”. Many people participating in the march wore exquisite costumes and held signs that read “Tide is not turd”, “Cut the nonsense” and “Life.” Water’, demanding government action to clean up Britain’s rivers and seas, and calling for an end to the ongoing pollution of Britain’s precious waterways.

Over 130 different groups and organisations attended the rally, including people from the fishing community including the Angling Trust and the Wild Trout Trust, not to mention representatives from tackle shops and fishing clubs, and numerous river rangers. Hundreds of ordinary anglers also attended the rally, as did some of the sport’s biggest names, including ‘MihuFishing’ and ‘MihuPower’.

Among the day’s many impassioned speeches, Penny Gane of Fish Legal highlighted the long battle anglers face in holding water companies and other polluters accountable for their actions.

“I’m here today because I want to see healthy rivers and abundant fish, but I also want to cheer on the anglers,” she told the crowd.

“For too long it seemed like anglers were alone in the fight against polluting industries across the country, but that has changed. It’s great to see everyone coming together and fighting for a common goal.”

In addition, about 100 people held a similar protest march in Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland.
